I just can't help myself when it comes to brooches. The site where I always buy them posted new ones and I absolutely couldn't resist myself!! I bought a very little cuty airballoon. And the second one, my favourite!! Is a beautiful daisy with a special suprise, it has a secret compartment in the back of the flower, so no, I couldn't let these beauties go!!
Yesterday I received this beautiful spring green dress, that I won at ebay the other day. The green was a little bit brighter than what I usually wear, but it's still very pretty. And it also fit like a glove! Also the brooches I showed you the other day also arrived. So now I'm ready for spring.
Wednesday night I tried something different for putting curls. I tried paper curls and I was suprised how well it turned out. I still need a better brush for brushing out and I need anti-frizz, but overall I really turned out nice. But I didn't leave it like that for the day, I pinned it up. Something I wouldn't be able to do with my naturel smooth hair. It's always strange to see myself without red lips. But before I went out the door, I put it on off course :) but it's still strange.
These picture are way over due!! This was my hairdo and outfit (well part of it that you can see) from sunday, so almost a week ago. But I decided to show it to you anyway. I also bought a new hairclip at H&M, which I really love. The colour goes so well with my haircolour and it also matches my earrings and beautifull cardigan.
About a week ago or so, I told you that I sold some dresses to a very lovely girl and that I, with that money bought myself some pretty stuff. Finally I've found the time to put pictures up. I bought 2 little 50s plates. And you can also see a picture of my "china cabinet", well it's more a cabinet full of my 50s plates and Babicham glasses and other stuff, desperatly seeking a kitchen to live in.
I've been really obsesses with brooches lately. I allready used to buy a lot of them, but the obsession is getting bigger. Especially the hard plastic ones, I adore!!! And again I found 2 of them. I found another bicycle brooch but a pale blue one, which is beautiful for coming spring. The second are very pink, very cute little sunglasses, also excellent for coming spring. And they weren't that expensive only €9 (including shipping costs) for the 2.
Tuesday night, I went to dinner with my niece Dorien. We ate baby back ribs with fries. Oohh so yummy. The funny thing was, we were both wearing red. I was wearing my red polkadotblouse and she was wearing her red pants :). I always enjoy myself when I'm around her!!
Yesterday night I went for pizza and a drink with other friends, which was also super cozy. We laughed and talked a lot. Didn't take any pictures though, I was too busy having fun! Oh yeah, this was yesterday's outfit.
I mentioned earlier, that I'd finally bought myself products for curling my hair or just putting more volume in it so I could do more with it. Now I put the products on damp hair. But when I redid my hair tuesday when I came back from work. I used the products again, but on dry hair. The curls I rolled up with that hairdo, were still in my hair the next morning (wednesday). So now tonight I'm going to put the products in dry hair, so hopefully I will get a much better result. But practice makes perfect :). This is by the way, how I looked when I went to sleep with the curlers in my hair on mondaynight. You can also see which products that I used. I bought these, due lack of finding the ones I wanted. You can also see the curls when taking the curlers out (right) and the curls when I combed then a little bit (left). Oh yes, please mind me without make up :).
Now I allready tried 3 different kind of hairstyles over the past 2 days, since I've started with the whole hairexperiment. The first one wasn't bad, but I need to buy more pretty hairclips, ones that hold very well in the hair. But as I said, it wasn't bad for a first attempt.
Then finally the third but in my opinion, my best hairdo of the 3. I made some sort of Victory rolls. But the best thing about them is. I rolled them at 10.00am and at 1am, so 15 hours later, they still looked almost exactly the same. They didn't drop an inch. So conclusion, my products really hold the hair in place.
The annoying thing about doing my hair is, that the leftside is always prettier. But again, practice makes perfect I guess.
Today I didn't have to go to work. Which I didn't mind, the sun was shining and I had the time to do some thrift shopping. This was today's outfit. It's a dress I've had for more than a year now, but it wasn't immediatly one of my favourite, it looked a bit too "Amish people-like". I showed it to you once in one of my very old posts this one. It's not all that clear in the pictures, but it had long sleeves which came over my elbows, it had a white border at the bottom of the skirtpart which made it look even more "Amish people-like". Now what I did today to improve it was, I cut off the sleeves and I cut off the white border. Then matching it with one of my new belts, which is a beautiful pale blue and has a bow, made it more springlike and not so much "Amish people-like". When I went to Herentals, to do some thrifthing, I first went by a very friendly girl who bought 2 dresses from me again, she allready bought 2 dresses and 2 blouses from me. So all the money that I spent today at thrifting come from selling those 2 dresses. Something new "old" for something old. I bought some 50s ceramic plates and cups, which I'll show you some time this week. It's too dark now to take the pictures and I won't have time till thursday to take the pictures. Then I also went to the optician, to repair my new old sunglasses, because the legs from the glasses were too loose, so the glasses slid of my face, but now they're fixed and ready for spring. And finally, I bought products and curlers for me hair, so I can finally get started at curling my hair vintage-like. I first wanted the products Betty Lou uses for her hairdo, but I searched at every store, and didn't find them. But I took her tip that everything saying something like "super strong" was good. So thumbs up for a good result tomorrowmorning!
This is todays outfit (or was because I'm in my comfy pyjamas now). The cardigan is nothing special, but it's new, I bought it in season sale at Zara for only €6. I really like the colour, I didn't have a cardigan with that colour yet. Now the dress I have about a year now. It's a really comfy and beautiful dress. I got it from my niece for my 21th birthday, along with some other cute stuff. I really like wearing it. I especially like the print of it. With that I woar my golden bowbrooch and my golden bowsearrings, so beautiful!!
If you look closely at the picture of me in the mirror, you can see a glimpse of my closet (well it's more a room then a closet).
Here are 2 beautiful ladies, that woke me up this morning and slept with me on my bed, for the rest of the morning. Now a couple of hours later, they're still lying on my bed. But they were so nice, to take a second for me to pose for the pictures. Cute little darlings!!
I bought this beautiful purse from my sister. She didn't use and was about to sell it on the internet. But I couldn't let that beauty leave the house!! I bought it for €5, which is not much for such a beautiful thing. And I'm also selling stuff myself, so I'm allowed to spend money :).
Last week, I went to the thriftstore with my sister, bought some clothes hangers as usual. But I also found something very cute. It's a 50s little side table, roundshaped and with 3 legs and a beautiful light blue top. And the best thing is, I only paid €2.2 for it. I'm really loving the pale blues, pinks, greens and yellows lately. Makes me long for spring and summer even more!
Oh yeah, my camera's batteryproblem is fixed, but it's still the old camera. So there will be pictures again, but as usual with mr crappy camera!
I've been having thoughts lately about this dress I bought at H&M a couple of months ago. It's the nutdress I showed you in this post. It hits above the knee and I don't find that length all that flattering. Now I was thinking about cutting the dress into a blouse, but would that be a pitty of a new dress that I bought just a few months ago. What do you say, cut or don't cut???!
Last night I went to dinner with some friends. We went to a Greek called Mezzecafé. I'd never eaten grecian before, but I have to say that it was amazing!! Everything that I tried was delicious. We also ate dessert, it was called Kromos and was made out of cookies, chocolate, butter and lot's of sugar mainly I guess, but oohh my hooww yummy!!! It's defenatly worth going there again! I haven't got any pictures of last night though, because my camera's batteries are still dead, which hopefully will be solved soon!! But until then enjoy and relax on your sundayafternoon.
My battery from my camera is dead so no picture of outfits until I get myself some new batteries, or a better camera, oohh how bad I want a new camera. Because I can't show you weekly outfits, I thought I'd show you some random inspiration of mine. This inspiration is Barbie. The lady herself, from the 50s. She's really one of the best inspirations there is!! I love Barbie!!! I especially like the little cute purse, so pretty. And ooh my the beautiful bathing suits, I wish I had one of my own. The pictures really make me long for spring/summer more and more......
I got myself some new old sunglasses. I got them as a present from my niece Dorien when we went shopping on saturday. They only cost €3, I expected them to be more expensive. I think they are from the 40s. Sunglasses aren't that easy for me to buy, since my eyes stand close to each other and my head ain't that big for some models. But this one is just perfect!! I just have to tighten them so they sit more firmly on my head. Now just a bit of warmth and sunshine and off we go!!
